Zhuilu Old Trail is a very exciting and wonderful old trail.
On the one side, it is mountain wall, one the other side it is cliff. It is as high as Taipei 101, about 600 m from the trail to Liwu river.
It is the remains of the Acacia Ancient Trail and also a historical preservation area in Taroko National park.
The cliff is composed of marble, which is the most magnificent landscape of the Taroko marble Gorge.
Due to geographic environment, safety and legal factors, the restoration of the ancient trail is extremely difficult and dangerous.
Several trail sections have collapsed for years, therefore the trail has been closed for many years.
About a decade ago, the government began to carry out restoration work in conjunction with the promotion of eco-tourism and preservation of historical sites.
Now it is only open 3.1 kilometers. It is required to apply permit to the trail, also it limits the number of visitors to Zhuilu Old Trail
